On NFL.com each week, fans can vote for the FedEx air and ground players of the week. Does overlooking Kyle Orton on the list this week show the Bears are still not getting the respect they have earned? Orton led the NFL in passing last weekend and was not included.

I’m not sure what it says and I don’t think it’s part of some grand conspiracy against the Bears. But Kyle Orton definitely deserves to be among the three nominees for the FedEx Air Player of the Week. As you mentioned, Orton’s 334 yards were the most in the NFL last weekend, and his 121.4 passer rating was higher than two of the three nominees, the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger (100.6) and the Cardinals’ Kurt Warner (107.3). While Roethlisberger tossed 3 touchdown passes, Manning and Warner both threw for two, just like Orton.

Now that the quarterback position seems somewhat stable, why haven’t the Bears shown any interest in trading Rex Grossman? It seems that there are a lot of teams this year that could use a quarterback, let alone one that’s taken a team to the Super Bowl.
